Tapered Rubber Stoppers
Tapered rubber stoppers are used for sealing purposes. They fill the opening of laboratory equipment like test tubes, flasks, glassware, and beakers. Stoppers play an essential role in a high degree of sealing and chemical resistance. Cork is involved in the composition of stoppers.
Rubber stoppers’ primary function is to prevent fluid from escaping from the containers during a laboratory experiment. They are also used in order to avoid the spoilage of samples during lab work.
Tapered rubber stoppers have a high degree of flexibility and durability. Flexibility contributes to creating a high degree of sealing capacity. Chemical resistance exists in the properties of rubber stoppers by which stoppers prevent the experimenters from reactive compounds.
Chemists mostly use these stoppers in their experimental work. Chemists mix chemicals in flasks and test tubes, but they have no good screw cap. That’s why chemists use these stoppers to plugin the test tubes and flasks.
Tapered Rubber stoppers have different types. Some have a few holes but mostly have no holes in them. Stoppers with no holes are used for non-volatile compounds because they cannot produce pressure in the air-tight containers.
Some chemicals have high volatility, and they produce a high level of pressure in test tubes and flasks. So tapered rubber stoppers with holes are used for these chemicals to prevent test tubes’ breakage and flasks by high pressure.
Select the rubber stoppers of the correct size with your experimental containers. All the stoppers are manufactured as their upper side more comprehensive than the lower side. A stopper with an upper end more extensive than the lower end is suitable for the flasks and test tubes.
If you want to seal the opening of flasks and test tubes, you must insert the stopper’s narrow end. Don’t use extra force to push the stopper inside the container because you could break the container.

Stopper & Plug Size Catalog
Compare four stopper profiles and check the selected part dimensions against your opening and available depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
Custom colors are available to your Pantone color code. Include the code in your inquiry.
RST T-Shaped Plugs
Match stem diameter A, flange diameter B, stem length C and flange thickness D. E refers to the underside recess; use the selected row and approved drawing to confirm the actual profile.

RSA Tapered Corks
Compare large-end diameter A, small-end diameter B and Height, in mm. The mating bore and required seating depth determine where the taper contacts the opening.

RSB Undercut Plugs
Compare neck diameter A, flange diameter B, flange-to-lip distance C and flange thickness D. Check panel thickness and rear clearance. E refers to the underside recess.

RSD T-Shaped Stoppers
Compare stem diameter A, flange diameter B, stem length C and head thickness D, in mm. Check the seating surface and available depth as well as the hole diameter.

- Removable closure fitted inside an opening
- Application focus
- Laboratory vessels, test tubes and laboratory flasks. Size the part against the selected assembly.
- Dimensions to confirm
- Opening diameter, closure profile, insertion depth and exposed grip. Match these to laboratory vessels and test tubes.
- Profiles discussed
- Tapered sections. Select the profile that matches the mating part and dimension that section explicitly.
- Contact conditions
- Air: define concentration, temperature and contact time, then check compatibility with the chosen compound.
- Seating check
- Check the sealing contact around the opening and the force needed for insertion and removal.
