Red rubber tubing
Red rubber tubing is a hollow rubber product for a defined line or connection. The red color identifies its appearance, not a universal formulation. Natural rubber and polyisoprene-based compounds are among the materials discussed for flexible tubing; select the actual compound before assigning a service duty.
Specify the internal diameter, wall thickness and length together with the medium being carried. Natural-rubber tubing should not be assumed suitable for petroleum oils simply because it is flexible. A vacuum line also needs enough resistance to collapse at its operating temperature and installed bend radius.
Check the tube on the intended fittings for retention and deformation. Exposure to heat, weather and repeated movement affects service life, so inspect the installed line for cracking, swelling or loss of fit. Medical or patient-contact use requires a product specifically assessed for that purpose; natural origin and red color do not establish that suitability.
