Reinforced silicone tubing, otherwise known as braid-reinforced silicone tubing, is primarily used in the food industry. It is FDA-approved to transport ingredients and other food-related substances. As is often the case with silicone tubing, reinforced silicone tubing is also translucent, making it easy to monitor the transferring process. As you can tell from the name, reinforced silicone tubing is high temperature resilient and can withstand temperatures as low as -85°F and as high as 350°F, which is just under 180°C. Apart from being very resistant to temperature, it is also ultra-flexible, UV and ozone resistant, and perhaps more importantly – it is odorless, tasteless and inert, making it ideal for the food industry. In the end, it’s important to note that reinforced silicone tubing can be low-pressure steam-sterilized, making it suitable for long-term use.
