Generator Anti Vibration Pads
Generator anti vibration pads provide a resilient interface between a generator support and its mounting surface. The pad must carry the load at each contact point while allowing the deflection required by the installation. Select its area, thickness and compound around those conditions.
Identify the generator’s operating speed range and how its weight is distributed across the supports. Load is not always shared equally, particularly when the center of gravity is offset. A pad that is too stiff or compressed beyond its intended range may not provide the expected isolation.
Check the mounting arrangement for rigid connections that bypass the pads, such as poorly routed pipes or incorrectly installed restraints. Assess vibration on the installed assembly using a defined measurement point and operating condition. Pads can address a structure-borne transmission path, but they do not eliminate engine, exhaust or other airborne noise.
