Generator Isolators

As you are aware, a generator system will generate a lot of vibrations while working, due to all the forces that are made and released within the generator’s engine. Even though these machines are made to withstand a lot of vibrations and still continue to work – the surroundings are not. So, it is very important that we find a way to minimize the effects of those vibrations. But also, no matter how resilient that generator is – vibrate it too much and it will inevitably fail.

That is where we come into play. To put it simply, a generator isolator is a rubber device that is absorbing the main two types of vibrations found in a generator system – torsional vibration and linear vibration.

As you already know, you cannot just mount the generator anywhere you want. In most cases, manufacturers will let you know that you should not mount your generator directly onto rock, concrete, metal or any other surface that will not absorb vibrations. That is where generator isolators and anti vibration pads come in handy. Generator isolators will act as an anti vibrational bridge between the generator set and the generator mounting pad.

The most common types of generator isolators are rubber isolators and neoprene isolators. Aside from the use we previously mentioned, these isolators can also be used to isolate generator components, for instance, controls. These kinds of isolators are mostly installed by the generator manufacturers and they will absorb as much as 90% of the vibrations. As for mounting generator isolators, you will most likely have to purchase these separately.
