Opaque white silicone tubing or hose is composed of a rubbery thermoset material that offers flexibility, resilience and resistance to atmospheric conditions. Additionally, this material’s capability to withstand UV rays, radiation and ozone is what helps it become a great option for applications that are used for both electrics, outdoors and sterilization.
They are manufactured from silicone rubber, the material is irreactive, elastic and high temperature resistant. Opaque white silicone tubing can withstand ozone, the weather, cleaning agents, seawater, oil from engines and transmissions, non-petroleum brake fluid, hydraulic liquids that are fire resistant, oils from plants and animals, and chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbons that have a high molecular weight.
For flexibility, opaque white silicone tubing features a Shore A hardness of 50 as well as an opaque appearance for visual fluids inspection. In addition, there is a working temperature range of -150 to +500 degrees F and it can be sanitized using either steam or gas for repetitive use.
Silicone tubing has been used for a while now for medical purposes particularly as peristaltic pump tubing since it complies with restorative needs such as cleanliness and non-toxicity. Furthermore, one of the main benefits of opaque white silicone tubing, which is exceptionally resistant to heat and cold over an extensive temperature range, has enabled its use in applications that require an adaptable tubing to handle temperatures that are not an option with other elastomers or rubbers. Opaque white silicone tubing also may be applied for low-pressure steam sterilization or may be sterilized by autoclaving at up to 250°F (121°C) in a normal sterilization cycle. It is important to note, however, that when subjected to repetitive steam sterilization, long-term high temperature or pressure, silicone will gradually relax and turn “rubbery” at which point it should be replaced.
