Opaque white silicone tubing or hose is composed of a rubbery thermoset material that offers flexibility, resilience and resistance to atmospheric conditions. Opaque white silicone tubing also may be applied for low-pressure steam sterilization or may be sterilized by autoclaving at up to 250°F (121°C) in a normal sterilization cycle. It is important to note, however, that when subjected to repetitive steam sterilization, long-term high temperature or pressure, silicone will gradually relax and turn “rubbery” at which point it should be replaced.
