RUBBER BODY PLUG

Rubber body plugs close unused openings in panels and housings. Their retaining section fits through the opening, while the head covers its edge. Choose the plug for the hole shape and panel thickness so that it seats securely without leaving the head raised or distorting the surrounding panel.

Measure the opening itself rather than the outside diameter of a removed plug. For a grooved design, compare the groove width with the panel thickness and allow enough clearance behind the panel for the retaining lip. Check the cut edge for burrs that could damage the rubber during insertion.

The compound should suit the temperature, weather and fluids at the installation. A panel plug is not automatically a door bumper or a protective corner cushion: those applications require a different contact shape and attachment. For a replacement body plug, identify the original seating arrangement and assess its fit in the actual opening.

RSA Tapered Corks
