Rubber conductive tubing

Rubber conductive tubing

Rubber conductive tubing combines a tubular shape with a specified electrical function. Begin by defining whether the application needs static dissipation or another controlled conductive path. Conductive rubber differs from an insulating sleeve, even when both products have the same color and outside dimensions.

Set the resistance requirement for the finished tube and the test arrangement used to check it. Tube length, electrical contacts and the connection into the surrounding equipment all affect the result. Electromagnetic or radio-frequency shielding requires assessment of the complete design and should not be inferred from a conductive material label alone.

For the mechanical fit, define bore, wall, cut length and the fittings at both ends. Include movement, contact fluids and operating temperature in the product requirements. Evaluate those requirements alongside conductivity so that the tube’s electrical function does not replace the checks needed for a reliable fluid line or sleeve.
