A rubber tub stopper is a removable plug used to close a drain opening. Selecting a replacement starts with the drain geometry and the closure style already used by the tub.
Measure the drain opening
Record the opening diameter, available insertion depth and the shape of the sealing surface. For a tapered stopper, compare the top and bottom diameters as well as the height. Include any lifting tab or chain attachment requirements. A nominal diameter alone may not describe the complete fit.
Check the closure design
A removable rubber plug and a mechanical pop-up drain use different fitting arrangements. Confirm which design the assembly needs before ordering. Photographs of the drain and a dimensioned drawing of the existing stopper can help clarify the required shape.
Discuss a suitable material and size
Specify contact with water, cleaning products and the expected temperature conditions when requesting a material review. Fit and compatibility should be checked for the actual drain and selected compound. Send dimensions and quantity to discuss a standard size or custom plug.
