Silicone insulation tubing
Silicone insulation tubing can provide a flexible insulating sleeve where the selected compound and wall are suitable for the electrical application. Define the voltage, temperature and mechanical exposure before choosing a size. Insulating silicone and conductive silicone formulations have different functions and should not be substituted for each other.
The inside diameter must accommodate the conductor or component without excessive stretching, while the outside diameter must fit the available space. Check wall thickness at bends and contact points, and avoid sharp edges that can cut the sleeve. Color can assist assembly identification but does not define an electrical rating.
An insulating sleeve is not automatically an electromagnetic shield or a static-dissipative tube. If the same geometry is proposed for fluid service, assess its pressure or vacuum capability separately. For vacuum duty, the relevant question is whether the tube resists collapse under the specified temperature, bend and support conditions.
