Accordian boot

Pickup trucks usually require special kind of insulation for the best possible weatherproofing since they are exposed in the back. However, some trucks come with mediocre insulation which leads to leaks or other similar issues. This is why so many people like to do a DIY fix for a better solution. And that better solution is always accordion boot (compression boot gasket). This compression boot gasket is usually made out of high quality-rubber or EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber). The reason why most accordion boots are made out of EPDM instead of regular rubber is because it is considerably more resistant to fire, heat, very high or low temperatures, water, snow, salt and a lot more. If made properly EPDM can be resistant to temperatures at -40C. 

Of course, not every accordian boot is made out of EDPM. Some are made from a different rubber so it can be more accessible to people that are in need of a compression boot gasket. Either way, the accordion boot will be perfect for the job, no matter what the job is. Just make sure you have chosen the right type of rubber and that it is long enough, especially if you want to insulate the cabin in your truck from the truck bed. Once properly installed, your truck’s cabin will be a lot more efficient at maintaining acceptable temperature.

Keep in mind, it is not just about finding the right length, but also the right thickness and sometimes even width. If it is too thick, it might not fit. Ensure that you have the right type of accordian boots by taking measurements of the gaps in your truck. Based on the width of those gaps, you should know exactly how thick the compression boot gasket should be.
