Vibration Isolation Bushings

Vibration isolation bushing is a type of vibration isolator. In most cases, a vibration isolation bushing is made from rubber, which is what makes it great at absorbing and isolating vibrational frequencies. For that reason, they are also known as rubber bushings, so if you hear that name, it usually means the same thing. What this piece of equipment does is act as a bridge between two parts, usually in a vehicle, by dampening the vibrations that are being transmitted through it.

More often than not, you can find these in motor vehicle suspension systems. In this application, a vibration isolation bushing is used to separate the two metal objects while still allowing enough room for every suspension part to move freely. When you are driving a car, and when you go over a large bump or a hole in the road, the suspension is supposed to absorb that impact so that you do not feel it as harshly, and to do that, there needs to be a vibration isolation bushing in the suspension so that it can do what it has to do. If there wasn’t a bushing there, the metal parts wood rapidly deteriorate and break, and you would have a very unpleasant driving experience.

Vibration isolation bushings are most commonly made from natural rubber, but they can also be made from synthetic rubber or polyurethane. These kinds of rubber are not only good at isolating and absorbing vibrations, but they are also very durable and wear and tear-resistant, which is very important. Bushings take on a lot of damage on a daily basis, so it is vital that they are abrasion resistant and that they can take a lot of damage without breaking. Also, because of friction, the temperatures can get really high, so these rubber bushings are also temperature resilient, as well.
